tithing

this is on my heart right now.  i’m seeing mention of money and tithing in various locations this morning.  and it brings me to grief.

i tithed fastidiously for many years because i had been told that if i did not trust God enough to give back the token 10% He asked of me, then God did not have any responsibility to take care of me…. i was on my own.

now? that sounds an awful lot like paying off the mob to *protect* you… from the mob.

God cannot and will not be bought.

This is the best explanation of the ‘priesthood of all believers’ I’ve ever heard.

Pain vs. Reputation

The Will of God

This is an excellent discussion on finding the will of God for former evangelicals.  It hits so many nails on the head, and it ministers to me every time I listen to it.  http://issuesetc.org/2011/08/03/wednesday-august-3-2011/
